Introduction
I have often made the observation that there are two Unification Churches. There is the public Unification Church (The image presented to the public), and then there is the Unification Church as it really is. It is this second Unification Church that so little is known about, and for one important reason. You would need to become a member to know and learn about it first hand. As a former member, I am in a unique position to expose some of the fallacies of Moon's movement, activities and goals. I was there and observed first hand the inconsistencies. Sun Myung Moon is Pro-Democracy
It is not so much that the Moonies themselves make this claim as much as it is assumed because of Moon's well known anti-communist position. It is nevertheless, a myth. Moon is supportive of Democratic principles only as far as he can use them to further his real goal : Establishing a world theocracy with himself as the head. Theocracies are not compatible with the separation of church and state, and in fact I was present for a speech Moon gave where he proclaimed that the purpose of the separation of church and state was to protect religion, but now that time has past, and it is neccessary for religion to once again control government. It is true that Moon loathes communism, what is not well known is that he also loathes Democracy, calling it a failed system. Here are a few excerpts of speeches containing his views on Democracy & America :
" Democracy, too, should disappear. Worst foundation is the democratic system. Party-fighting system. That is not God's concept. "
" If America continues to stick with its own wealth and refuses to share, then the entire world will tear this nation apart. The entire creation is laughing at America. But Americans do not realize this. When Reverend Moon gives this kind of warning to Americans they do not care to hear it. If Americans hate Father and refuse to see and hear him, then the future generations of America will have no eyes or ears. The American race will become extinct. On a Sunday morning such as this, everyone is supposed to attend here to receive Father's message. However, they don't come because they are based upon individualism. They don't think about their descendants and history. However, the Japanese brothers and sisters are here. They will take over America and the world eventually."
"When it comes to our age, we must have an automatic theocracy to rule the world. So, we cannot separate the political field from the religious. My dream is to organize a Christian political party including the Protestant denominations, Catholic and all the religious sects. We can embrace the religious world in one arm and the political world in the other "
Moon believes in racial equality
With all the international mass weddings in which Moon himself often pairs up couples from different races, one would think Moon to be a believer in racial equality ! Many ministers have come to that conclusion, and in cities like Chicago many ministers of color have seen Moon as a person who can bring the races together. One of these christian ministers have gone so far as to say that Moon in fact is the only hope to heal racial divides. This would be more believable for me, if I didn't believe that Moon himself is a racist !
While it is certainly true that Moon often matches people of different races together and marries them, it is equally true that Moon only marries his own Korean children to other Koreans. Never to any other races. It is also true that Moon calls Korean culture, heaven's culture. It is part of Moon's theology that had Jesus been accepted as the messiah, his language "hebrew" and his culture "Jewish" would have become the world's culture and language, supplanting all others ! Moon, as the "second coming" of the messiah teaches the very same thing about himself and his culture. Moon teaches that Korean must be the only language spoken throughout the world, and that the Korean culture must supplant all other cultures in the world. It is this reality that makes his "World Culture Festival" such a farce. World wide, the top leadership in Moon's movement are all Koreans. Moon only marries his own children to other Koreans, and once when I was a guest in one of his mansions, I had a chance to speak with the woman who organized Moon's elaborate dinners for VIP's. She told me that she felt that the Japanese members of the church were so faithful. I asked her what she meant, and she said "Father (Moon) knows that Koreans would never accept being married to blacks and so to put the oriental race together with the black race, he matches blacks to Japanese. Those Japanese are so faithful."
Well, I had never considered that before. I had seen oriental and black unions in the church, but never realized that the oriental was Japanese. Things like this were among the points that helped me leave Moon's empire later on. Racism is at least as prevalent in Japan as it is in Korea. But Moon, being the political opportunist that he is, is sure not to step on toes in the nation he wants to rule. And so he has wormed out of this issue by way of the Japanese followers. Sad also is the fact that this woman would call it "loyalty" to marry a person because of their skin color, she only revealed her own racism as well. Moon's racist tendencies have revealed themselves in his speeches as well, as the following quote shows :
" Father thinks about the three races; yellow, black and white. Orientals can contribute in the spiritual aspect, white people can contribute in the analytic, scientific area while black people can contribute in the physical area. Physical educational development of physical fitness, the area of health. That's one of the reasons Glenda Moody's project (D.C. Strider's Track club) with black young people is very fantastic. From now on, two thirds of the athletes may come from black people. Even basketball games have a dominant population of black people. The talented area of black people is in this physical aspect. So, the short cut for the black people's achievement in this world is in this physical aspect."
Moon is saying that blacks are capable in sports, but not in scientific or spiritual areas. This is particularly offensive to me. This kind of remark is blatantly racist and offensive. Human beings on this Earth are created in the image of God. We are limited only by our own determination and the obstacles we have to overcome to realize them, but Moon is not speaking of obstacles but "talent". Here is another offensive comment from Moon, this time directed at Jewish people :
"By killing one man, Jesus, the Jewish people had to suffer for 2000 years. Countless numbers of people have been slaughtered. During the Second World War, 6 million people were slaughtered to cleanse all the sins of the Jewish people from the time of Jesus."
This type of comment incites racial violence by promoting the myth that it is the fault of all Jewish people that the Lord Jesus Christ was killed. Comments like these are from a horribly heart poor individual. As the world moves forward toward true racial equality, racist dinausaurs like Sun Myung Moon need to be left permanently buried as the fossils they are of a violent past.
And do we need antichrist's like Moon to lead us into a world of racial reconciliation ? Absolutely not ! As an example of how far the world has moved, I would offer this : Though I have left the Moonies squarely behind me, I have always enjoyed the Korean language, so my wife and I signed up for some Korean classes in the countryish area where we live. It was surprising that we could even find such classes in the south, but we did, and in our small class was quite a mixture of couples. My wife is spanish and I am caucasian (mixed couple), another couple in the class is Korean and Caucasian (mixed couple), still another couple in the class was Japanese and Korean (mixed couple). All of this without Sun Myung Moon's help ! Love is the real unifier, not religious rites or matched marriages. Moon's promotion of the Korean race and culture as God's race and culture is eerily reminiscent of another dangerous promoter of the ideal race and culture. His name was Adolph Hitler, and the world has had quite enough of this type of racist !
