| THE "TRUE FAMILY"? "SINLESS CHILDREN"? It is a major foundational doctrine in the Unification Churchthat Sun Myung Moon and his wife Hak Ja Han are the "True Parents" of allmankind, and that they together with their children constitute the "TrueFamily", "the first perfect God-centered family on earth." Accordingto Sun Myung Moon one of the main purposes of the Messiah was to establish a sinlessfamily of absolutely sinless children. Thus if Moon's children are not sinless, accordingto his own doctrine, he cannot be the Messiah -- he would be disqualified from being theMessiah. Moon teaches that he is the "sinless Messiah" and that his children --the "True Children" are completely sinless. He teaches that his family is theperfect model family for the entire human race, which all other families of theworld are to emulate. Here are a few quotes from Unification Church publications whichgive us the Unification Church teaching: "The ideal of God is to restore the first perfect God-centeredfamily on earth. With this one model as a center, all the rest of the world can be adoptedinto this family." (Sun Myung Moon, Message from Prison, "God'sWarning", pp. 145-146.) "To establish the representative family is the direction ofhistory. Every family needs to head in this direction. Your family and yourdescendants need to follow the pattern of the true Adam's [Moon's] family." (Sun Myung Moon, from the Unification Church Magazine, Today's World,September/October 1994, p. 11.) "God intended him [Jesus] to bring forth upon this earth his ownsinless children. Then Jesus and his bride would have become the True Parents forhumankind, and all humankind would have found life by grafting onto them." (Sun Myung Moon, "God's Warning", p. 42.) "I am now making a prototype of the perfect family,accomplishing what Jesus could not do." (Sun Myung Moon, from theUnification Church Magazine, Today's World, May, 1995, p.12.) "My purpose is to establish as many ideal families as possible. Everyfamily should resemble that seed family."(Ibid., p.14.) "True Parents and True Family have the ideal form, the idealtradition and the ideal example. By emulating their lifestyle, you automaticallyenter the Kingdom of Heaven." (Jin Hun Moon, from the UnificationChurch Magazine, Today's World, May, 1995, p.22.) "All the answers for which American young people are desperatelylooking are revealed in the life course of True Family, especially True Parents." (Ibid., p.22.) "Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my great privilege to announce to youthe establishment of the first true family. ...we have achieved, on thefamily level, the central root, the central trunk and the central bud of the "Tree ofLife" mentioned in the Bible." (Sun Myung Moon, "TrueParents' and the Completed Testament Age", p.10.) 'Thus, I established the True Parents' family, the origin of true love,true life, and true blood lineage, based on God." (Ibid., p.14) "All people will be made new through the True Parents. All peoplewill be empowered to bring sinless children into the world .... This is the day when God'soriginal ideal will be realized for the first time....His own son as perfected third Adamwill initiate an entirely new history upon the earth. On that day, we shall become livingimages of God. God will bring His kingdom to earth." (Sun Myung Moon,"God's Warning", p. 43.) "Without True Children as their object, True Parents...could nevergive us complete salvation." (Rev. Chung Hwan Kwak, "Attendanceto True Family", Today's World, November, 1993, p. 12.) "We and all mankind need not just True Parents but also TrueChildren for our salvation. Engrafting is not possible without the model branch. In orderto become true children before True Parents, we need True Children as a model." (Ibid., p.12) "Even after being blessed, fallen people are not qualified toapproach them (True Children). Their original mind, their depth of heart, their filialpiety is beyond our imagination." (Ibid., p.12) "Simply put, God and my family have become one. Your family thenshould become one with my family..." (Sun Myung Moon, "Let UsRealize and Pledge That My Family is the Representative and Central Family",Today's World, September/October 1994, p .8.) "True Parents have made the foundation. Your family's challenge isto unite with True Parents family. ...True Parents family is showing the formula coursefor the family." (Ibid., p. 6.) According to the Unification Church it is through the"Blessing" (participating in one of Moon's weddings and having your marraige"blessed" by him) and at that time undergoing his "Holy Wine Ceremony"that your "blood lineage is changed" and that you, your spouse and any futurechildren you may have become a "true family", engrafting onto Moon's own"sinless perfect family", the 'True Family". (Of course from then you must"attend" to True Parents, etc.) "I gave the blessing so you can make your family a modelfamily that all the other families of the world can emulate. You must learn from ourfamily and inherit from us .... The conclusion is clear: I represent God, Irepresent the center of humankind, and I represent True Parents' family, God's familycenter." (Sun Myung Moon, from the Unification Church Magazine,Today's World, September/October 1994, p .8.) "The ideal of God is to restore the first perfect God-centeredfamily on earth. With this one model as a center, all the rest of the world can beadopted into this family." (Sun Myung Moon, Message from Prison,'God's Warning", pp. 145-146.) 'Humankind needs the Messiah. The Messiah comes as the True Man who canestablish the sinless family just like Adam and Eve weresupposed to establish in the Garden of Eden for all humankind. Once the Messiah's familyis established, all human beings can be engrafted into it and we can build a society,nation and world." (Sun Myung Moon, from the Unification ChurchMagazine, Today's World, September 1996, pp. 8-9.) Moon claims that he is the Messiah and that he has established "thesinless family". Of course, then, Moon claims that he himself is absolutelysinless. This claim is easily proven false as deceiving people, lying to people, andteaching others to lie to people in the name of God are all sin, the breaking of God'sHoly Commandments. (See "Examples of the Use of Deception by the UnificationChurch") Spiritism or sorcery, which Moon and his Unification Church are heavilyinvolved in, is also a clear breaking of God's holy laws (Deut. 18:9-14, Isaiah 8:19-20,Rev. 22:12-16, Lev. 20:6). Beyond this, is Moon's family really the sinless perfect familythat he proclaims? In a Saturday, June 29, 1996, article entitled, "Leader's SonMissed Message" The Boston Globe informs us "Now 30, Nansook was afifteen-year old Seoul schoolgirl when Rev. Moon consulted Korean Fortune Tellers andselected her to marry his eldest son in 1981." The article is speaking of NansookHong Moon, wife of Rev. Moon's eldest son, Hyo Jin Moon. The article elsewhere states,ANansook fled the lavish Moon family compound in Irvington, N.Y., last August to escape amarriage that she says was ravaged by her husband's alcohol and cocaine inducedrages." And elsewhere quoting Nansook, "I had reached a point in my life when Icould no longer endure and live with the constant threatening, verbal abuse and incidentsof physical violence', she told the court in a tearful plea for enforcement of therestraining order she obtained against Moon in Cambridge last October." Elsewhere thearticle says that Moon "conceded the substance abuse that prompted the family toremove him last year as head of its Manhattan video production company." By concedingthis Hyo Jin has already admitted from his own lips that he is not sinless. Nansook, amother of five children, had her first child at age 16 and her last only 8 months beforeher escape. Nansook, as one who has "been there", says that Moon's family isanything but the ideal one that Rev. Moon claims it to be. In a tearful interview withWBZ's Suzanne Bates, Nansook says she was beaten and abused by Hyo Jin Moon for years.(WBZ-TV News [CBS Affiliate], Channel 4, Boston, July 7, 1996) WBZ reported, "Shesays Hyo Jin was frequently drunk or high on cocaine, sometimes locking himself in theirbedroom for days to do drugs and watch pornographic films. For most of their marriage shesays Hyo Jin beat her, abused her sexually and emotionally--and threatened to kill her ifshe spoke up." Nansook said, "He started being physically abusive when I waspregnant with my second daughter. I was afraid for the baby. He was saying that he wasgoing to kill the baby, that he would punch my stomach and kill the baby." The reportgoes on to say, "Last month Hyo Jin was in criminal court in Massachusetts to facecharges he violated a restraining order by sending a threatening letter to Nansook. Hepleaded guilty." Again, this is another admission from Hyo Jin's own lips that heis not sinless. WBZ goes on to say, "The judge sentenced Moon to 18 months probation,ordered him to undergo random drug tests and counseling for drug and alcohol abuse....Though his attorney promised Hyo Jin will follow the judge's order, there is noevidence Hyo Jin Moon has any regard for the law. Not only did he threaten Nansook, aviolation of the restraining order, he was on probation for two drunk driving convictionswhen he was arrested again for driving again with a suspended license, a charge towhich he pleaded guilty." Once more, from his own lips Hyo Jin admits he is notsinless. Financial gain was definitely not among Nansook's motives for fleeingthe lavish Moon family compound. She had been wife of Hyo Jin, Moon's eldest son and heirapparent of a financial empire which is widely believed to be worth billions. The maritalhome alone has been appraised for over 23 million dollars. She fled the Moon's lavishlifestyle of mansions and swimming pools, with a host of security guards, maids, cooks,nannies and servants to a life in which she now wonders if she will be able to feed herfive children. Nansook says she fled because she feared for her life. She says she foundthe courage to leave because the situation was so bad she thought she might not survive.Nansook says she decided to tell her story in part because she is still afraid of what herhusband and his family might do. Besides Nansook's charges of abuse and marital infidelity (which HyoJin denies) Hyo Jin has already admitted that he is not sinless (as well as has the law ofthe land by two drunk driving convictions!) and as such admitted that his father'sdoctrine is a deception and delusion. I do not rejoice at Hyo Jin's sin, but I do praythat this situation will cause Unification Church members to wake up and see the obviouscontradictions. Hyo Jin must repent, if he hasn't already. One cannot help but feel extreme compassion for Nansook for all she'sbeen through. But this writer also feels pity, in a way, for Hyo Jin and for all the Moonchildren, the so-called "True Children" who were born into such falsehood anddeception. I pray that they would no longer seek to maintain the lie (their own conscienceconvicts them that they are not sinless), but that they and all Unification Church memberswould see the deception going on. And I pray that Hyo Jin, the so-called "TrueChildren", and all Unification Church members would come to seek Jesus, the only TrueMessiah - and through Him come to experience the true new birth as Jesus and the Bibleteach it (John ch. 3). I pray that through repentance and faith (Acts 20:21) they come totruly experience the new life which is only found in Jesus Christ and the trueforgiveness, true peace with God (that deep settled inward peace), true love, power anddeliverance that comes through Jesus and obeying the Word of God rather than man. by David Wolfe (Whenever in this article quoted words are put in bold print oritalicized, these were used by this writer for emphasis.) Since the time of our writing the above article a new and very important article cameout in the New York Post, July 10, 1998 which sheds more light on this subject. Thefollowing are excerpts from this article, "The dark side of the Moon family". "The children, known ...as "The True Family", were brought up amid fantastic luxury in exquisite homes on Moon’s two breathtaking estates, East Garden in Irvington and Belvedere in Tarrytown. Mom and Dad Moon were absent much of the time and the children were raised by scores of servants who had to bow three times in their presence. Lavish amounts of money were spent on the kids. For example, when a daughter expressed an interest in horses, Moon had a $10 million equestrian center built for her in Britain. Each child was given a $9,000 a month allowance, which went to $40,000 a month when they married. Life in the lap of luxury does not seem to have been happy, however. According to the Putnam newspaper, a daughter, Sun Jin Moon, ran away from home to live in Greenwich Village, returning only when she discovered she had a serious illness. A second, Ye Jin Moon, decamped to Boston. Another, Un Jin Moon, abandoned her husband after an arranged marriage and now lives in Virginia. She is battling her parents over control of her children. ... But by far the most serious problem for Rev. Moon right now is Hyo Jin Moon, his eldest son, who is mired in a bitter divorce and personal bankruptcy. He has had two stays at a substance abuse center and he says in a deposition his only loves are "guns and music." He claims he rarely sees his father and when they do they barely speak. Hyo Jin Moon admits in court documents he spent church funds on personal luxuries, including two Mercedes. He was driving one of them when he was arrested for DWI in 1992 and lost his license. He says he pocketed $400,000 intended for a music company that had been set up for him to run..." Chris Corcoran, a spokesperson for Moon did not return calls."
