The "Little Pebble", real name William Kamm, is the "leader" or"seer" of a breakaway Catholic cult, which goes under the title "Our Ladyof the Ark".
William claims to be in contact with the Virgin Mary, St Joseph,Jesus Christ, and, on occasion, various other angels and heavenly occupants.
He makes pronouncements (prophesies), which he claims come directfrom the Virgin Mary or whoever he happens to be in contact.  Typicallythese 'prophesies' are apocalyptic in content, usually referring to theend of the world, or the "end of days".  More often, they are a callto prayer or ritual ordered by his contacts.  Quite often, the "messages"make reference to the sorry state of the church, or the perceived "liberalisation"of the Catholic Church.  In addition, the various messages are exhortationsagainst the wickedness of the world, and instructions to pray constantly( a classic "cult" phenomena). His "Spiritual advisor" is one Father MalcolmBroussard, who is called "Little Bartholomew" in Williams inner circle. William was born 16th May 1950 in Cologne, West Germany.  Accordingto a published document ( Highlights of Messages from Heaven given to THELITTLE PEBBLE- published by the Marian Work of Atonement - based in Nowra),William first began to have mystical experiences in Easter 1968. He founded the "Marian Work of Atonement" organisation in Australia in1970-1972.
In 1982-1983, "he received" his name Little Pebble, perhaps in referenceto St Peter, The Rock upon which the Catholic Church is founded. (There is some evidence that suggests that this is the role that "The VirginMary has for him" On numerous occasions, William has passed on "messages"that suggest he is the next "Vicar of Christ" (theNext Pope) Also, see the Other names he isnow claiming. William was having children with his defacto wife Bettina whilst still married. He was divorced late in 1997.He explains his right to have sex with his "queens", by telling us that the Virgin Mary has suspended the normal laws of adultery in his case. He said so on National Television in November 1997 (60 Minutes, TCN Channel 9), on 1 January 1998, he delivered a letter which excuses his adultery by claiming that Pope Innocent 3rd allows it.

NOTE: Every Doomsday prophet in the 20th century has followed the same pattern, and made the same sorts of excuses.
 

William is dangerous because of the evolvingnature of his cult, and the patterns that are beginning to emerge.
The Cult has it's "headquarters" in a remotelocation near Nowra, in NSW Australia , however there are "enclaves"in Victoria, Queensland and overseas.


Whilst the grounds are "open" on the 13thof each month ( because that is the "feast day"), the Cult is increasinglybecoming isolationist, and, it has begun to demonstrate some of the patternsof the cults which lead to tragedy ( WACO, JONESTOWN, HEAVENS GATE etc.).

William's cult has similar structures. There is an "inner circle", which makes up the hierarchy of the cult. Of course being a member of the "inner circle" brings influence, and itis a thing to aspire to. In most cases, the "messages from the Virgin Maryet al. are "private messages" (not to be made public), to the "inner circle"only.  The poor plebeians outside of this "inner circle" are thereforeexcluded from these revelations "until the time is right". Once again,these are classic signs of the classic cult.
The Cult headquarters in Nowra now consistsof a fenced compound.  The explanation for this is to keep peoplewho may harm the cult out.  Of course, it helps keep people in aswell.
Like most cults, and certainly like the mostdangerous, the leader and inner circle control their followers by a combinationof "carrot and stick" psychology, and to some extent, group pressure. Certainly William Kamm has charisma, and he has a firm belief in his visions,which is how he got going in the first place.  However, the mechanismof typical cults controls it's members by work, and indoctrination. The susceptible cult member is kept working very hard, followed by ritualisticprayer, and constant reminders of the evils of the world, the "privileged"position they are in (saved), and the absolute infallibility of the leader(s).  Doubters, or people who wish to leave are first of all talked to by whatis generally referred to in cultwatch circles as "Cult Lawyers". These people will attempt to convince the doubter to stay, and reaffirmtheir faith.  If you still leave, you end up potentially ostracized.

In a document entitled "The Atonement Program" Followers are instructed to pray, and the hours and types of prayer foreach 15 minutesfrom 6.00am to 5.30pm, after 5.30 youare supposed to enter private prayer.  Anyone else would call thisbrainwashing.

As to the increasing danger we see, WilliamKamms group is becoming more isolationist, and this will increase withtime.  When his prophesies become doubted by the members around him,and the cult enters its terminal stage, then we are likely to see tragedy,as reality comes crashing down around the members, and in particular, Williamhimself.  Rather than see this happen, members may opt for a moredramatic exit.  Now we are not likely to see a WACO, but somethingmore along the lines of JONESTOWN or HEAVENS GATE (suicide rather thanarmed confrontation).

The Next Pope?

  Perhaps the most outrageous claim William Kamm makes, is thathe will be the next Pope, (at least he says the Virgin Mary tells him hewill be). Throughout William's career as "The Little Pebble", his "visions"have made various references to his special role. This has evolved to anactual statement that he will be the next Pope. In fact, there is evena timetable. In a publication called "To the People of the World" Publishedby The Marian Work of Atonement Society Ltd ( note how it is now a registeredcompany), dated 23 May 1995:

Dear Friends of God: There are only four-and- a-half years beforethe end of this Era - as you know it. Much change in the coming years.Points to look out for are:
• 1. The Warning - it will not be until 1998 - unless things change.
• 2. The Major Trials - for all good souls is during 1995, 1996 andearly 1997. These two-and-a-half years will be the most difficult, butmost rewarding.
The prophesies have been much delayed but the signs are now clearer.Remember the Pope has turned seventy-five; the 'Little Pebble' has turnedforty-five. All prophesies claim Pope John Paul II will be martyred beforehe turns eighty, and the 'Little Pebble' will be Pope in his forties. In1998, Pope John Paul II will Consecrate the 'Little Pebble' - who is 'LittlePeter' - a Bishop, with eleven other Apostles as Bishops, in Fatima. Beforethis event occurs, the 'Little Pebble' must be Ordained a Priest, the CourtCase a victory, and the Order of Saint Charbel approved.
