Two New Letters

In recent days, William took exception to an article published in a Catholic Newspaper. Though William claims not to be at odds with the Catholic hierarchy, he proceeds to tell his followers to ignore the catholic hierarchy on these points. A very dangerous position in my opinion.

Letter one:

TO: THE PEOPLE OF GOD AND BELIEVERSIN THE MISSIONS OF HEAVEN

Dear People,

Recently I was shocked to come across an article in the well known Catholic paper 'The Wanderer', published in the U.S.A. on 4th June, 1992. The article in question concerns "The Poem of the Man-God", written by the Mystic, Maria Valtorta. It was stated that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the Vatican's Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has condemned Revelations of Maria Valtorta in the "Poem of the Man-God".

NOTE: one of my correspondents has pointed out that Cardinal Ratzinger did not actually condemn Maria Valtorta, merely"The Cardinal has said that it is OK to publish her work but they are supposed to have a proviso at this stage regarding authenticity of the work" If anyone else has information on this, I'd welcome it..

I do not wish to seem contradictory. to the authority of the Church Hierarchy, however, I strongly protest the decision made regarding this Holy work of God, and encourage the People of God to take no notice of this decision from Rome as it is not only contrary to the Teaching of the Church, but contrary to the instruction of the Holy Father, Pope Pius XII, who gave his personal Supreme lmprimatur to II Poema dell' Uomo-Dio on February 26, 1948, during the Audience of that day.

Therefore, my dear people of God, follow the Vicar of Christ. Over the past twenty years Our Blessed Mother has repeatedly stated that the children of God must discern all things that come out of Rome, as the Evil One has infiltrated the Church and its highest positions, allowing falsehood mixed with truth to be promulgated through lawful authority. This is not a reflection upon Cardinal Ratzinger, but rather those in high positions who can, inadvertently, be unduly influenced by the evil spirits.

Pope Paul VI of holy memory also stated in 1972 that the 'smoke of Satan' had entered the Church and that all documents coming out of Rome were to be carefully scrutinised by the laity.

With respect to Cardinal Ratzinger, the statement against the "Poem of the Man-God" is unfounded and has no basis in truth in the light of the public Declaration by His Holiness, Pope Plus XII, that this work of God is without error - either doctrinally, or morally.

Therefore, I say again to all concerned: read the poem of the Man-God with faith and trust that it is Divinely inspired.

I remain Christ's obedient servant.

The second letter deals with the "Opus Angelorum":

TO: THE PEOPLE OF GOD

Dear People,

I am very sure that many good people throughout the world were both saddened and surprised at the Declaration from the Holy See - dated the 6th June, 1992 - regarding the work of "Opus Angelorum", an Organisation dedicated to the spreading of devotion to the Holy Angels.

My desire is to make comment on that Declaration, but it is to be noted that I do not wish to be perceived as one who now intends to dismiss the subsequent decisions of the Holy See because of it, On this matter, however, I wish to .advise the Church and its members that devotion to the Holy Angels - even by accepting private revelation - is wholesome and worthy of both belief and further encouragement, for in no age more than today's is it necessary for a devotion to the Hierarchy of Angels to be embraced, as part of our daily exercise of prayer.

Because the 'Angel of Darkness' is rampaging throughout the Church and the world, bringing upon humanity unnecessary chastisement which has been caused by lack of both faith and belief in the Angels, it is not the time to lessen devotion to the Holy Angels but, rather, to increase it.

For too long a period in the history of the Catholic Church little or no importance has been place, d upon private revelation, as if to infer that revelations received privately are, at best, less important in their value than the public revelations of the Gospel. Is it not the same voice which speaketh? - or is it another spirit that wishes to lead the Church?

It is high time Holy Mother Church - through its elected Hierarchy - took more seriously His Word which is revealed through the many, living, Voice-boxes of God, who diffuse the Word for our time.

The Spirit says to the Churches: "Never try to suppress the Spirit, or treat the Gift of Prophecy with contempt; think before you do anything; hold on to what is good and avoid every form of evil". [I Thess. 5:19-21]

Therefore, the Revelations given to Mrs. Gabriele Bitterlich of Austria in regard to the Angels are of extreme importance for our time - and all should be encouraged to believe in them. I see no contradiction of terms by staying faithful to the mandate of the Holy See yet believing in the various devotions to the Holy Angels, as exemplified by the "Opus Angelorum'.

I wish to encourage the Priests and Religious of "Opus Angelorum" to continue to encourage the people of God - the Church - to participate in and propagate the various devotions for the Holy Angels.

I remain Christ's obedient servant,

THE 'LITTLE PEBBLE'

For those interested, here is the Decree regarding "Opus Angelorum":

NEW EXAMINATION OF "OPUS ANGELORUM"

Doctrinal Congregation re-affirms prior decisions and adds further Norms.

DECREE:

In a letter sent to the Holy See - dated 1st December. 1977 - Cardinal Joseph Hoffner, Archbishop of Cologne and President of the German Episcopal Conference, requested an examination of the Association called "Opus Angelorum" (Engelwerk) and of its particular Doctrines and practices arising from the private revelations alleged to have been received by Mrs. Gabriele Bitterlich.

After finishing this examination, particularly in regard to the written works containing the aforementioned teaching, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith - in a letter of 241h September, 1983 - communicated to His Eminence the following decisions already approved by the sovereign Pontiff in an Audience of 1st July [cf. AAS 76 119841, pp.175-176):

1. In promoting devotion to the Holy Angels, "Opus Angelorum" must open the Teaching of the Church and of the Holy Father and Doctors. In particular, it will not disseminate among its members and the faithful that veneration of the Angels which makes use of 'names' learned from an alleged private revelation (attributed to Mrs. Gabriele Bitterlich). The Community's use of these same names in any prayer will not be permitted.

2. "Opus Angelorum" will not require of its members, nor propose to them the so-called 'promise of silence' (Schweige-Versprechen), although it is legitimate to maintain the proper discretion regarding the internal affairs of "Opus Angelorum" which befits members of he Church's institutions."Opus Angelorum" and its members will rigorously observe all liturgical norms, especially those regarding the Eucharist. This particularly applies to the so-called 'Communion of Reparation'.

3. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith was later able to examine other writings from the same source and was informed that a correct interpretation and implementation of its preceding decisions were not taking place.

An examination of these writings continued the judgement on which the preceding decisions had been based - namely, that the angelology peculiar to "Opus Angelorum" and certain practices arising from it were foreign to Sacred Scripture and Tradition and, therefore, cannot serve as a basis for the spirituality and activity of associations approved by the Church.

Therefore, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has considered it necessary to again publish these decisions, together with the following complementary norms:

1. The theories arising from the revelations alleged to have been received by Mrs. Gabriele Bitterlich about the world of the Angels, their personal names, their groupings and functions. can neither be taught, nor made use of in any way - explicitly or implicitly - in the organisation and working structure (Baugerust of "Opus Angelorum". as well as in worship, prayers, spiritual formation, public and private spirituality, in ministry and the apostolate. The same provision applies to any other Institute or Association recognised by the Church.

The use and dissemination of books or the writings containing the aforementioned theories, either inside or outside the Association, is forbidden.

2. The various forms of Consecration to the Angels (Engelweihen) practiced in "Opus Angelorum" are prohibited.

3. In addition, the so-called remote administration of the Sacraments (Fernspendung) is prohibited, as wen as the insertion of prayers or rituals which, directly or indirectly, refer to these theories into the Eucharistic Liturgy or the Liturgy of the Hours.

4. Exorcisms may be practised only according to the Church Norms and Discipline in this regard, with the Formulas She has approved.

5. A Delegate with special faculties, appointed by the Holy See, will verify and insist, in consultation with the Bishops, on the application of the Norms laid down above. He will see to it that the relations between "Opus Angelorum" and the Order of Canons Regular of the Holy Cross are clarified and regularised.

The Sovereign Pontiff - John Paul II - at the audience granted the undersigned Cardinal Prefect, approved this Decree, adopted in the ordinary meeting of this congregation, and ordered its publication.

Rome, at the congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, 6th June, 1992

Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect

Alberto Bovone Titular Archbishop of Caesarea in Numidia, Secretary

The following are writings taken from the book titled "Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma", by Doctor Ludwig Ott.

Book 2: Section 2, Chapter 3 - (see page 114 ff)

Revelation concerning the Angels or Christian Angelology. See No. 26 Existence, origin and number of the Angels. A key Dogma:

In the beginning of time God Created spiritual essences (Angels) out of nothing.(De Fide.) - Refer to council of 4th Lateran and Vatican Councils.

The Council of Treat teaches that the invocation and veneration of the Saints (Denzinger 984 and following) may also be applied to the Angels.

It is to be Pointed out that the Holy Mother Church encourages devotion to the Holy Angels – in particular Saint Michael, the Archangel.
