What is Sukyo Mahikari ?
Sukyo Mahikari, meaning True Light, has been "officially" founded in 1959 when Yoshikazu Okada, former officer in the Japanese Imperial Army, received "God's revelations".
His "mission" was to save the world and he was called in the organisation he founded, "Savior of Mankind" (Sukuinushisama).
God would have revealed him he had to raise his hand and give God's light in order to purify man et prepare as many people as possible for the next holy civilisation. He was also asked to transmit this extraordinary power to the others. At the beginning, the teachings of Sukyo Mahikari claim to be purposed for all mankind, to unite the families, the nations and the religions. They should also prepare mankind to a new exciting era.
Sukyo Mahikari also gives its answers to questions such as : "Why are we on earth ?, What is the purpose of man ? What does happen after death ? Are spirits a reality ? Indeed, Sukyo Mahikari speaks about God, gods, spirits, reincarnation, and many more esoteric subjects.
More over, the fundamental element is the Light. The Light of Sukyo Mahikari is supposed to heal and solve all kinds of problems. After only three days of a course, Sukyo Mahikari teaches to heal yourself and the others thanks to "God's Light". Anybody can learn to do that. Almost always, this unique spiritual healing method comes along with amazing involontary body movements made by those who receive this treatment (violent body torsions, crying, laughing, talking foreign languages). These strange phenomena are very similar to what happens in the Pentecostal Churches. This activity of giving light is the essential practice of the member who is encouraged to "make offerings". Not to God who does not need money, but doing offerings is a good means to get purified of one's bad "karma", at least that is what it is said within the sect.
Sukyo Mahikari advises to get purified avoiding medicines, which pollute the body, and chemicals, especially those contained in food. For this purpose, members are encouraged to work to achieve a "biological agriculture without chemicals" in "gardens" arranged in the centres of Sukyo Mahikari.
Yoshikazu Okada died in 1974. It is said in Sukyo Mahikari that his adoptive daughter, Keishu Okada (called Oshienushisama) succeeded him to carry on his mission. To save mankind, it was necessary, under the alliance between man and God, to achieve the Temple of Salomon. This temple was built in 1984 at Takayama in the Japanese Alps.
Sukyo Mahikari is active and established in most countries of the world (Japan, Australia, United-States, North and South America, Europe and Africa).
