Most honest hearted people want to know the
truth. Honest people will prove ALL things.
Of course there are others who for one reason
or another will not be willing to prove anything. They accept what others tell
them, honestly trusting that the other person would not deliberately deceive
them. Yet these ones are leaving themselves open to being deceived.
The Bible also tells us that those who deceive
will not look like deceivers. They won’t admit that they are deceiving you.
Jesus likened them to ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ and the Holy Spirit inspired
Paul to write that even Satan himself can make himself look like an ‘angel of
light’.
Often it is the very persons we trust so implicitly
that are able to deceive us the most because we have been taken in by their
OUTWARD appearance - the front they are willing to let us see. Not so strangely,
these deceivers will try and discourage us from checking with others if in fact
they are telling the truth. Often, they will tell the deceived that to do so
would be showing disloyalty.
The Bible tells us that Eve was deceived ...
thoroughly deceived. It also says that God will destroy all deceived people.
You might say: That’s a bit hard, but who are we to question God?
Jesus said we are to speak the truth. He said
that there is nothing covered that will not be uncovered, nor hidden that will
not be exposed. Jesus spoke out about the deceivers of His time, the Jews’ organisation
and for this He was branded and ‘apostate’. Many people believed Jesus, despite
the discouragement they received from their organisation, and for putting loyalty
to Jehovah before loyalty to the organisation, they were granted eternal life.
Jehovah God always gives the deceived the opportunity
to see the truth. He also gives them the choice of what they will do when they
hear it. Jehovah never forces anyone to accept the truth, but He ensures that
they do hear it.
But the truth hurts! Some people don’t like
getting hurt. What will they do?
Of course, truth is truth, no matter how much
it may hurt us. But, if we are not to be deceived, we must face the truth and
accept it.
There are many deceivers in the world today.
Some of these, such as the Mormons and Worldwide Church of God, claim that they
are the only channel of communication between God and man on earth today. They
try and stop members from reading or even listening to opinions outside their
own organisation so that these deceived ones will not hear the truth. Do you
think that is right? Shouldn’t these people be given the opportunity to examine
their organisation’s teachings openly and honestly, comparing them with outside
opinions? Or should we simply leave them to their deception. The latter course
would be contrary to what Jehovah God would have us do wouldn’t it.
What about your organisation? Does it claim
to be the only channel of communication between God and man on earth today.
Does it, like the Mormons, forbid you to read or listen to outside opinions?
Did it, like the Mormons, encourage you to look only to them for Bible answers,
and not encourage you to check their teachings out with scholars outside their
on organisation. Has it, like the Mormons, make changes to its teachings or
even made predictions about things to come, which have later changed or proven
to be untrue?
If you answered ‘Yes’ to any of these questions
then you need to do some serious thinking. It could be possible that you are
deceived just like the Mormons are.
If you are an honest hearted person, why not
go to Jehovah God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, right now and ask Him
to reveal the truth to you about this matter. Ask Him to give you the strength
to face the truth. Do this in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the one
who died at Calvary.
You can examine what you have been taught without
anyone knowing about it. Possibly, because of family circumstances, you have
to be quiet about your examination (just like the Mormons have to be quiet about
it.) We understand this and are willing to discuss this privately with you by
